About Bionta
The only constant is change. We aim to think differently to move the status quo forward.
We develop algae‑based bio‑stimulants that help growers improve plant health and soil while reducing reliance on harsh inputs.
Why, How, and What
Why Bionta?
We believe in a holistic, evidence‑led approach while staying humble about the complexity of living systems that cannot be fully explained.
How we work
Systems thinking (inspired, among others, by Donella Meadows) guides our choices. We focus on leverage points: strengthen soil processes, improve nutrient cycling, and build resilience.
What we do
We formulate microalgae‑based bio‑stimulants that integrate easily and support soil fertility and plant health over the long term.
Systems thinking
We take a systemic view shaped by Donella Meadows’ work. Rather than isolated fixes, we consider interactions, feedbacks, and delays across the whole system.
Our mission
Empower greener, more resilient agriculture by turning microalgae into accessible, effective inputs for growers of every scale.
Our approach
We combine practical field testing with careful formulation. Each iteration focuses on measurable outcomes: plant vigor, yield stability, and long‑term soil function.
Soil fertility at the center
For us, fertility is a biological, process‑based function — not a single metric. Soil is a living process and sits at the core of our decisions.
Soil organisms matter
- Aerate soil and improve water infiltration
- Decompose organic matter and close nutrient loops
- Are sensitive to intensive tillage, mineral fertilizers, and pesticides
Our perspective
Shift from maximizing single‑crop yields to optimizing whole‑system outcomes. Deepen collaboration with soil life, invest in soil‑process research, and foster values‑driven exchange.
History
The bio‑stimulant (under a previous name) has been exported for 15–20 years by the founder’s family company to markets outside the EU. Earlier, the focus was on cleaning agents for the dairy industry.
Market entry & registrations
Market entry in Germany and Austria from 2025/26. Currently registered in Austria and Germany under guarantor status. Additional national registrations planned in Denmark, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and England. An EU‑wide registration under Regulation 2009/1019 is targeted; this requires time‑intensive and costly studies.
What we value
- Evidence first: Decisions guided by trials and data.
- Simplicity: Products that fit into existing routines with minimal friction.
- Sustainability: Low‑impact sourcing, responsible production, and soil health in mind.
